isayamax
1982年 福岡生まれ。
デザイン専門学校を卒業後、約10年間にわたりデザイナー・イラストレーターとしてキャリアを積む。
2015年よりInstagramでオリジナルイラストの投稿を開始し、本格的に作家活動をスタート。
2019年には東京・原宿と大阪・梅田で個展を開催し、2021年「ART FAIR ASIA FUKUOKA 2021」より現代アートの世界へ。
isayamaxの作品は、自身の青春期である90年代のカウンターカルチャーと、そのルーツとなる70年代の時代性・文化を背景にしている。美人画やイラストレーションと密接に関わりのある70年代の少女漫画やキャラクター文化を発端とする“カワイイ文化”は、90年代の渋谷ギャルや原宿デコラを経て、現代のSNSや多様なポップカルチャーへと連続している。
isayamaxは、その“ドメスティックなカワイイ文化”の文脈を独自に再構築し、イラストレーションの技術を駆使して現代に昇華。懐かしさと新しさが交錯するビジュアル表現で、世代や国境を越えた共感を生み出す。

This is the art shop of isayamax, an artist based in Fukuoka, Japan.

isayamax
Born in Fukuoka, Japan, in 1982.
After graduating from a design college, isayamax worked for about 10 years as a designer and illustrator.
In 2015, they began posting original illustrations on Instagram, marking the full start of their career as an independent artist.
In 2019, isayamax held solo exhibitions in Harajuku (Tokyo) and Umeda (Osaka), and in 2021 entered the world of contemporary art through ART FAIR ASIA FUKUOKA 2021.

isayamax’s work is rooted in the counterculture of the 1990s—a formative era for the artist—and draws influence from the cultural context of the 1970s.
The so-called “kawaii culture,” which originated from 1970s girls’ manga and character art closely tied to traditional bijinga (pictures of beautiful women) and illustration, evolved through the 1990s Shibuya gyaru and Harajuku Decora scenes, continuing on into today’s diverse pop culture and SNS-driven world.

isayamax reinterprets this domestic kawaii culture through a unique visual lens, fusing technical illustration skills with a nostalgic yet contemporary aesthetic.
This blend of past and present creates a visual language that resonates across generations and borders.
