日本のカワイイ文化を構成する要素である「デコ」と「デフォルメ」を掛け合わせた「Decorume」シリーズ第9作目。
現在リバイバルしているY2Kファッション。
その元は90年代ギャルカルチャーと考えます。
ギャルもバブル崩壊後の日本の大人に頼らない独立した女子高生として誕生し、私が考えるカワイイの定義である「何物にも縛られない自由な姿」にも重なります。ネガティブをポジティブに変え、自分達の感性とマインドで道を切り開いていくギャルカルチャーは、日本のカワイイ文化を語るうえで重要なカルチャーの一つだと考えています。

The ninth piece in the Decorume series, a name combining “Deco” and “Deformation” — two elements that help define Japan’s unique Kawaii culture.
Y2K fashion, which is currently experiencing a revival, has its roots in the gyaru culture of 1990s Japan.
Gyaru emerged in the aftermath of Japan’s economic bubble collapse, as a generation of high school girls who sought independence rather than relying on adults or conventional values. This spirit closely aligns with my own definition of Kawaii: “a free-spirited way of being, bound by nothing.”
By transforming negativity into positivity and forging their own paths through their unique sensibilities and mindset, gyaru culture became one of the important cultural movements in shaping Japan’s Kawaii culture.
